Design Ideas to Elevate Your Bathroom

Let’s talk about our favorite design elements to incorporate to elevate your bathroom design. These are easy ideas and additions to add to your bathroom design without wildly changing its fundamental and structural design.

No. 1 Incorporate Large or Oversized Artwork as the Focal Point

Creating a luxurious experience in your bathroom design usually means keeping things simple, streamlined and minimalist. However, artwork can elevate your design to a full luxury hotel experience while adding your own personal style to the space. It is your retreat after all. Choosing a piece of art that speaks to you evokes a feeling in your space. We like to keep the artwork with a base of neutral tones, although it’s fine to have some color. Keeping your walls white also will allow the artwork to stand out and serve as the focal point for your bathroom. Check out some of our favorite ways to use gorgeous art in the bathroom.

No. 2 Style Your Bathroom As You Would Any Other Room

The best designers style the bathroom. They add warm or dark wooden stools, vintage earthy rugs, textured vases and greenery, linen curtains and towels, and more. Don’t be afraid to layer in beautiful, organic tones and textures to create a spa-like feel while also celebrating the ordinary and everyday experience of getting ready and taking care of you.

No. 3 Focus on Mixing Metals/Hardware to Create a Custom Look

This may be one of the main questions we get when designing a bathroom. How do you properly mix metals for a bathroom? It is hard to know how to mix metals. Mixing the metal used on your cabinet hardware, lighting fixture, and faucet/shower hardware will allow you to create a cohesive and elevated design. Try mixing 2-3 metals only. Balance them by using same or similar on the cabinet hardware and faucet, while incorporating a different metal for overhead lighting and wall sconces. Keep undertones and overall design aesthetic similar among all the hardware also helps.

We love helping you create a custom design. We have found the easiest and cost-effective way is e-design or virtual interior design. You take on the responsibility of photographing and measuring your space. We then create 3 shoppable and complete mood boards for you to choose your final design from. We then work with you to be sure every element is able to be purchased and installed perfectly. Our e-designs start at $1500 and will give you a beautiful design you love at a cost that you can afford.
